My name is Emily Weerts and it’s great to (virtually) meet you.
It is my mission to cultivate a wildly supportive community. What that looks like these days is leaning hard into persisting through the horrors and finding ways to make people’s lives a little more supported and delightful. When I’m not coordinating all the things from behind my keyboard, I can be found:
Collaborating with the Austin Modern Quilt Guild
Co-hosting the absolute best craft retreats
Supporting local artists by connecting them with opportunities to fund their projects
Helping folks make their Zoom sessions a little less terrible
Digging into my family history of Japanese American Incarceration during WWII and building community with other descendants of “the camps”
Exploring my mixed race (Japanese American and white) identity
Taking fabric that is in a sheet, cutting it up into small pieces, and then sewing those pieces together to make it a sheet again (aka Quilting)
Cooking for my friends and family (send me your best veg friendly recipes!) and contributing meals to the ATX Free Fridge Project
Attempting to keep plants alive
If any of that sounds like something you need to be apart of, feel free to contact me.
