About Emily, Andy (aka Bug), and Bodie

Thanks for considering renting our back house! Here’s a little more info about us to help you decide if this is a good fit for you (the back house is free standing with no shared walls, but is close to our house and we’ll share laundry and storage in a detached out building).

 
 

We are Emily (she/her) and Bug (aka Andy - he/him), and Bodie (she/her, black lab mix). Emily and Andy are married with no kids (and no plans to have kids). We’ve lived in Austin for almost 20 years, at this address since 2007 (in 2023 we completed a major remodel that included adding the back house). We both enjoy birding and exploring new (to us) patio restaurants, stores, and events in Austin.

 

Emily is a quilter, crafter, and community builder. When she’s not behind the sewing machine, Emily enjoys cooking (mostly) vegetarian food, hosting friends for front porch hangs, and snorkeling in Barton Springs. Professionally, Emily is a program coordinator for fellowship students in med school. One of her favorite things to do in the Cherrywood neighborhood is enjoying happy hour at Bobo’s Snack Bar.

 
 
 

Bug goes by “Bug” and not Andy because there are too many “Andy”s. His hobbies include photography, tinkering with electronics, and reading. Professionally, Bug is a user experience programmer for a large job search website with headquarters in Austin. He enjoys walking the dog to Patterson Park and getting Bird Bird Biscuit breakfast sandwiches for brunch on the weekends.

 
 
 

Bodie is an 8 year old labrador mix we adopted from a rescue outside of San Antonio. She is very sweet, and sometimes brave, but mostly enjoys napping and eating. She is named after Bodie, CA, a ghost town the high Sierra Mountains.
